THOUGHTS FROM SUZANE

I just returned from Cancun, after a wonderful and enlightening five-day retreat. The bad news first: leaving eighty-degree weather to return to single digits can put you in shock! My heart was pumping as I exited the airport. Of course I was glad to be home, but I could have done without the shock effect.

The good news: it was a very special five days for all! I'm waiting for some more reports, but I think everyone was happily surprised at how much information was received from their loved ones and DP's. When you're in a beautiful place, openly and freely sharing with others who, like you, want to make a connection (and your emails and cell phones don't work that easily!), it naturally helps . . . which is the purpose of such an intimate retreat. I was so touched by all the connections our DP's made – some of whom were in very rare form, I might also add!

I know more than anyone how much people want me to make the connections for them. However, what I also know is that when you take that leap of trust and truly allow yourselves to take that risk of opening up, amazing things can happen. Everyone who was there in Cancun should feel truly blessed and proud to have taken that huge step. Thanks to everyone for sharing and being part of the retreat!

February: the month of St. Valentine, a time for opening those cards, getting flowers, and special times spent together. Remember, matters of the heart are truly personal, so don't limit your valentine to a romantic expression. I know many mothers give valentines to their children, and many sons and daughters in turn give their mothers valentines! It's more rare for fathers and their children to exchange valentines, but hey, why not?

In last month's newsletter I talked about Everything Happens for a Reason and how everything has a vibration. Those of you who have seen the movie, "What the Bleep Do We Know?" will perhaps remember the part where they talk about Dr. Masaru Emoto. In a recent article from the magazine "Pure Inspiration", I read an interview with Dr. Emoto and his discovery of the "power of prayer", and noted especially his observations about the power of water. As I walked along the beach in Cancun, I couldn't help thinking about Dr. Emoto's article in relation to the greatness of the ocean. The ocean does, without question, take your breath away with its magnificent beauty and power. After reading Dr. Emoto's works, I couldn't help but wonder about how, with the power of prayer, all of us can be conduits in healing the planet. He shared that message in July of 1999, at a ceremony offering prayers to Lake Biwa, which has been extremely polluted. Around 350 people gathered. A month later, an article came out in the newspaper saying that this was the first year they didn't receive over 300 phones calls complaining about the foul smell from the lake! Visualization (prayer) is, without question, the process of sending out effective changing and healing vibrations. I have always been a strong believer in the power of prayer and once again, I am amazed! More about Dr. Emoto's theories can be found in his books, The Hidden Messages in Water, The True Power of Water, and The Secret Life of Water.

How could we not think that the very same power of prayer can transform our own lives and the lives of our beloved DP's? I'm often asked, "Do they hear us, and do they hear our prayers?" The answer is, unequivocally! This is just one of the significant ways we can prepare ourselves to receive our DP's transmissions, by letting them know our love for them. Don't ever think your prayers are not felt or heard—they most certainly are!

I'm reminded, when thinking about the power of prayer in respect to water, that through history we find most cultures have some way of giving back, to say "Thank You" and to show gratitude for what our Higher Source and Mother Earth have given us. Native Americans and other indigenous cultures have always had immense appreciation for the land and what it can provide them. They have always believed that nature is divine, and that we are only part of a grand plan and not here to dominate nature. There are many celebrations of blessing and giving back to Mother Earth. I assure you, when everyone walked on the beach in Cancun with a full moon shining down; it was a moment that will never be forgotten.

So enjoy this Valentine's month and send thoughts of love to all who are near and dear to you. Add an extra dash for those who could use an extra smile, thought, or just a phone call . . . and yes, you can call your DP's too! Know that they will hear you because energy is everywhere and everything!

Your Questions Answered

The question this month comes from Jane Summer.

She wrote:

"I know that people we love are around us after they pass, and that they can guide us. But suppose there are people who are abusive or destructive to us. Do those people stay around us? . . . because my father died last year and he was abusive to me. Even when I went to where he was buried I felt he was staring at me negatively. Is this possible and could he be aware of this in the afterlife?"

Jane: We do not become a goody-two-shoes when we die; however, the consciousness is very different without the body as opposed to being in the body. Honestly, it's more of the memory that may stay with us. It's important to understand that it's not the upstairs team that "makes us" do bad things. God has given us free will while here on Earth to make choices in our lives.

On a Personal Note
For those of you that may not visit the message board on my website often, you might not be aware that Jess runs a weekly group meditation, prayer, and healing circle on Wednesday nights. Everyone is invited to participate, and to post prayer requests to be included during the circle.

Towards the middle of January, Jess posted this request:

Hi board family,

I just got an email last night from my dear friend Michelle, who is more like a second mom to me, is also an amazing Reiki & IET teacher and practitioner, and just an overall beautiful soul and true lightworker! This is what she said in her email:

"I have recently learned that my ex-husband is [in the ICU]. My daughter tells me he was found unconscious by the side of his truck a week ago today at 5:45 a.m. The details are sketchy as to what occurred, but an assault is not out of the question. He was unconscious about 2 1/2 hours when he was found by a newspaper carrier.

He is in a medically induced coma - he has had surgery for swelling on the brain. He has not resumed breathing on his own when they have attempted to remove the breathing tube. It is expected he will be in ICU for 2 weeks (he's been in for one thus far). At which point - the thought is to transfer him to a rehab facility.

According to Jenn, her dad is likely not to have any memory of what happened - and perhaps much more. Given the length of time he was unconscious, the Dr.s are unsure at this time what will be needed ... perhaps to relearn EVERYTHING over again. ... we will need to wait and see.

So- if you would all please think of David (Wilson), our daughter Jennifer and David's wife Marcia - while they are in this difficult place, I would so appreciate it - as would my daughter. :)

And so, on behalf of Michelle, her daughter Jenn, and of course David and his wife, I am asking for as much healing, positive energy, prayers, and love you can send to them. Thanks everyone!

Many of you on the board responded to Jess' request, and kept Michelle, David, and their family in your prayers that evening and in the days and weeks following.

Earlier in this newsletter I talked about Dr. Emoto's article and the power of our thoughts and of prayer . . . and I am happy to be able to show you an example of just how powerful prayer is! Below is an email I received from Michelle:

Hi everyone:

I have just received an update about my daughter's dad -- David was moved from ICU to the neurological unit. The trach tube is out – though being kept on hand. He has spoken one word - though unintelligible, he did speak.

There is no word on the pneumonia or the bloating at this time.

On behalf of my daughter and my ex's extended family, I thank you for continuing to keep them in your thoughts, prayers and energy work.

[We held a] meeting last night and were doing Einstellen (healing prayer/energy work) at 8:30 last evening - including the entire Wilson family. All this that I have written about occurred within the last 12 hours, I am told -I will never be convinced that spiritual healing/energy work and prayer don't work!

Many MANY thanks to you all!"

This is just one example of how powerful our thoughts and our prayers are! So pay attention to your thoughts, and know they are both heard and felt . . . by the water, by Mother Earth, and by your loved ones – including your DP's.
