Thoughts from Suzane

Welcome to 2009! In numerology, 2009 yields the Master Number 11 (2+0+0+9 = 11), one of the four Master Numbers. The others are 22, 33 and 44. During 2009, we can draw upon the cosmic forces of inspiration, and attain awareness or even cosmic consciousness.

This awareness can often provide us with opportunity, particularly after experiencing the loss of a loved one. I personally had several of my friends lose parents — one friend lost both parents - within 17 days of each other in December, all before the holidays. The friend who lost both her parents is also an only child, which only added to that feeling of abandonment. Of course, any loss is especially tragic during this time of the year, regardless of who or what that loss is. This is the reason I drove through a snowstorm last month in Northern Massachusetts to deliver my "Messages for the Holidays".

Massachusetts was in a state of emergency, but I also knew that many people were in their own disrupted state during the holidays, feeling their losses intensely. I knew that if I cancelled the event, many people would have been deeply disappointed by not having the possibility or opportunity to get a message from a loved one. I was right. Of course, it was very difficult for many to attend, but those that were able to get there were deeply happy they could make it. It was a wonderful afternoon of connections and I believe those loved ones in spirit appreciated that tough New England determination that braved the stormy weather. Even for me it was a bit challenging. And I was made aware that there would be many a Patriots fan on the road, since I guess it was their last game before . . . the next step!

In Seattle, there was also a difficult challenge due to the roads and hills that were so hard to maneuver, making it impossible for many to get to work. My radio show producer would not have made it to work if she wasn't picked up by the boss with a 4-wheel drive.

Many people I have met are happy to see the end of 2008. Indeed, lots of people at my events have asked me what are my thoughts on everything that is going on in the world. What I say to everyone is this: You may not be able to control the events of the world, but you have the power within you to be a beacon of light, to make a difference in your own world. Never feel you need a lot of money to make a difference; it is always that small gesture that can bring about an important change. Google "make a change" and you will be amazed at the many ways you can make that difference. It is and always has been my belief that you know in your heart what gives you passion or draws you. Take that special feeling or intuition — I bet many of you can remember what your mother, grandfather, teacher, coach, or spiritual moment taught you — and use it to make a difference.

Don't think of this as just another New Year's resolution, because you will be upset if you don't achieve your goal. Rather, envision this as something you have always wanted to do to make a difference, and ask for the guidance to give you the direction. This is something you can control. Make a change, create a difference. I'd like to share a quote I believe is appropriate:
